Double portrait of Frederik III of Denmark and his wife Sofia Amalia of Braunschweig-Lyneburg, probably painted shortly after their marriage 1643, five years before his succession to the throne in 1648.
The painting was taken as war booty by Carl Gustaf Wrangel during the war against Denmark 1657 – 1658.
The unsigned double portrait was most likely executed by one of the painters close to the court of Christian IV.
